Ferris Mansion – Rawlins, Wyoming

This beautiful, historic Victorian mansion that was built by copper magnate George Ferris back in 1903, now serves as a bed-and-breakfast. Unfortunately, Mr. Ferris never got to enjoy his mansion, as he was killed in a carriage accident where he was thrown from the vehicle and died instantly. Sadly, in 1904, Mr. Ferris’ nine-year old son Cecil was playing with a loaded gun when it went off and killed him. All said, the Ferris family lost four out of their seven children in tragic accidents. The property seems to be a hot-spot for tragic accidents. Along with members of the Ferris family who died, a construction worker fell to his death during the construction of the house.

There are said to be several spirits haunting this lovely estate. None of the spirits have been definitively identified as members of the Ferris family, but the possibility exists. The ghost of a woman watering non-existent plants has been seen here along with the ghosts of two little boys who spend their time amusing themselves in a old playroom. Could they be Mrs. Ferris and two of her sons?
